Justin Mason is a seasoned UT Longhorns basketball player ready to go out with a bang this season. Justin Mason was born Jan. 3, 1988 in Amarillo, Texas and attended Amarillo Palo Duro High School. As a freshman at the University of Texas, Justin Mason played all 35 games including 31 consecutive starts to end the season. Mason proved himself to be an exceptional player from the start, which earned him the team’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player. Justin Mason returned to the Longhorns basketball team as a sophomore where he was named to Sports Illustrateds’ “All-Glue Team” and the Big 12 All-Defensive Team.

For the second-straight season, Justin Mason was awarded the MOD Player, and played in all 38 games with 35 starts. Justin Mason was a force to be reckoned with on the Longhorns basketball team, with no end to his glory in sight. Along with his success on the court, Justin Mason also was one of 12 team members to earn a spot on the Spring 2008 Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll. As a junior at UT, Justin Mason earned a spot on the Big 12 All-Defensive Team and started all 35 games. Justin Mason, while leading the team with 141 assists, was ranked sixth overall in the Big 12 for assists.  

Justin Mason has returned once again for his fourth season in the backcourt. Mason is referred to by his team as the “glue guy” for sticking to his opponent as if his life depended on it. Since he began his college basketball career, Justin Mason has never missed a game and doesn’t plan on changing that any time soon. The Longhorns fans should expect great things from Justin Mason this season.
